DEFINITIONS, PHRASES AND SLANGS

  • A.D. - After Demons. Used to mark the years following the Reckoning.

  • Aldring - A Demon’s coming-of-age ritual.

  • Apex - A group of individuals who have earned titles from the Underworld. Considered the highest-ranked and respected in the Realm.

  • Blood

    • A sacred promise among Stygians. If broken, the offender must shed blood as punishment.

    • End of a prayer to Phobus. The final word in a prayer to Phobus.

    • Curse word, equivalent to “fuck”. e.g: for blood’s sake, bloody hell, ect.

  • Clan - A group united by shared objectives or religious beliefs. The two largest clans are Stygians and Etherians.

    • Corpse Killers - An Etherian clan known for their extreme violence and brutality.

    • Galazio - Corrupt law enforcement; a rogue faction within the system.

    • Hriso - Gold clan. Politicians and power brokers.

    • Kokkino - Red clan. Protect using violence.

    • Mov - Purple clan. Traffickers of Humans, drugs, and weapons.

    • Prassino - Green clan. Experts in surveillance and electronic control.

  • Ether -  The Realm above the clouds where Angels live.

  • Etherian - The language, religion, and culture associated with Angels.

  • Kynigos - An alliance of four ancient families who were once Demon hunters.

  • The Reckoning - The event that ended the recent war between Demons, Humans and Angels. Nearly caused Demons extinction.

  • Soulesity - Northernmost country in the realm.

  • Stygia - A subterranean region beneath the mountains. Home to Demons.

  • Stygian - The language, religion, and culture associated with Demons.

Swears and exclamations:

  • Oh my gods - General exclamation used by most people.

  • Angels above - Commonly said by Etherians.

  • Demons below - Commonly said by Stygians.

  • Stars above - Used by Angels, Poiesis, Moira and Arcacia.

  • Bloody hell - Used mainly by Demons and Phobus.

Slurs and insults:

  • Corpse - A slur used to describe Demons; derogatory and dehumanising.

  • Dog - An insult implying someone is submissive, pathetic, or beneath others. Similar to “bitch” or “lapdog”.

  • Feathers - Insult toward Angels. Dismisses them as delicate, defined only by their wings.

  • Hollow - a slur to describe Angels; holy outside, empty inside.

  • Skykisser - A slur directed at Etherians; often used by Stygians.

  • Stygian scum - A slur directed at Stygians; often used by Etherians or Humans.

  • Vampire - Used by Demons to insult other Demons, implies weakness and imitation. Refers to Demons who are seen as watered down or pathetic.
